Crash Team Racing – September, 1999
The first-ever Crash Bandicoot racing game was the Crash Team Racing which you could play on your old Xbox or PlayStation. You had multiple modes to choose from such as Adventure, Time Trial, Arcade, Versus or Battle with a variety of tracks to play like Hot Air Skyway, Oxide Station and Slide Coliseum. Now from gameplay, you will see that the picture quality isn’t the greatest as the game was made in 1999, but the excitement in them days of Crash Bandicoot bringing out a racing game with the popular characters such as Doctor Neo, Coco, Polar and Tiny Tiger meant the game was a must to play.
Competing against Mario kart, the Crash Bandicoot Racing Game had similar features where you collected different items through crashing into boxes and picking up apples for bonus points. However, the drifting meant you could boost even further and beat your friends and family. This iconic game started the foot for Crash Bandicoot in the racing category.
Crash TagTeam Racing – October, 2005
Flash forward 6 years, Crash bandicoot brought out another racing game called Crash TagTeam Racing. One of the first games of its kind the incorporated single player crash adventures along with the racing games and duel racing. You could explore the map and variety sections of the theme park in areas such as Tomb town and Happilyever Faster which involved both racing and single-player adventures.
As you went through the game, you could upgrade your racing car and appearance to make the game personal to you. Along with coop mode and combining cars in race to form one monster racing car, this game had everything.
The quality of the picture was still a little dated but at the time of 2005, we were still living in the times of A/V and S-video ports which hindered the quality. But now, there is a new Crash Bandicoot game available!
